Jordan’s Journey to Success

Share This:

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the summer of 2002 and I was in my third foster home after living in two orphanages when I was notified that I would be adopted. I was 8. My first Christmas was awesome, full of gifts and love. In 2003 my attitude started to change.

Love quickly turned into hate, anger, lies and defiance and I was doing everything I could do to ruin the family. After some years at home and substantial effort by my parents I was still a mess.

I was selfish and my parents could not trust me any longer. So they decided to send me to a military school. I enjoyed my time there and was successful and flourished. However, when I came back home my behavior quickly deteriorated. I turned back into the same person I was before I enrolled at the school. I was a person I didn’t want to be and I didn’t know how to stop myself.

My parents mentioned the Quakerdale Promise Academy to me. My mom and dad liked the idea of a boarding school structure based 0n Christian values and the long heritage of Quakerdale. I never imagined then that I would be who I am now.

The Promise Academy has opened up new interests and brought more people in my life who believe in me. They have helped me realize that I am not alone and to accept help… from others. Now, I am part of a team of students who are learning new things about life. I especially enjoy the entrepreneurial opportunities provided through the Sustainable Agriculture Program. I feel like I am becoming the person I always wanted to be. – Jordan     Today, Jordan is making life long changes and is planning to help others with his life.
