MY ROLE AT THE FOUNDATION

As Director of Development I have the privilege of participating in our four areas of focus that support the work of our nonprofit ministry partners:

  • To Provide Facilities,
  • To Award Grants,
  • To Create Trainings for Staff and Volunteers, and
  • To Grow Dynamic Leaders

MY STORY

Since my graduation from Wheaton College in 1983 with a degree in Christian Education I have been the Vice President of LeMar & Sons. Inc in Seeley Lake, Montana writing custom software applications for public school districts; the Director of Technology at Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds in Occidental, California; the Executive Director of Pine Lake Christian Camp in Eldora, Iowa; the solo pastor of Aplington Baptist Church in Aplington, Iowa; a Counselor and Transporter at North Iowa Juvenile Detention Services in Waterloo, Iowa; a partner at WEST 1940 Emporium and the founder of eSource Network in Spring, Texas (today known as the Hope4Healing Resource Assistance Network).

On July 7, 2012 I started my job as Director of Development at Quakerdale in New Providence, Iowa.

Though I enjoyed all my previous job opportunities there was always lurking deep in the back recesses of my mind, a sense that I was wandering aimlessly. I couldn’t understand what this all had to do with ministry and a degree in Christian Education.

Fast forward to March of 2020 and I can tell you with absolute certainty: Daily my work draws heavily from previous experiences. My past no longer seems disjointed, but planned and orchestrated. Where once I fulfilled daily tasks, now I embark on a journey of discovery.

I fit, I belong, and I’m right in the middle of supporting and strengthening those who direct ministries for Christ and His Kingdom.

Being the Director of Development for Josiah White’s Quakerdale Foundation has brought meaning, purpose, and value to my life and affirms that I have a role to play in the Kingdom of God.
